Start-up and operation
6 Start-up and operation
6.1 Start-up
Risk of personal injury due to process me-
dium escaping under pressure.
− First start up the regulator after mounting
all parts.
Crush hazard arising from moving parts.
Do not insert hands or ngers into the set
point springs while the regulator is in opera-
tion.
Risk of burn injuries due to hot or very cold
components and pipelines.
Depending on the process medium, valve
components and pipelines may get very hot
or cold and cause burn injuries.
Wear protective clothing and safety gloves.
Once installed in the pipeline, the regulator
can be put into operation.

6.1.1 Installing the regulator
Î RefertoFig.3
1. Close the shut-off valve in the pipeline
while the valve is being installed.
2. Remove the protective caps from the
valve ports before installing the regula-
tor.
3. Lift the valve using suitable lifting equip-
ment to the site of installation. Observe
theowdirectionthroughthevalve.The
arrow on the valve indicates the direction
ofow.
4. Makesurethatthecorrectangegaskets
are used.
5. Bolt the pipe to the valve free of stress.
6. Mount the actuator.
– Diaphragm actuator DN15 to 100
Push the actuator stem (11) through the
hole in the crossbeam (8) onto the spig-
ots of the bellows (5.1).
Align actuator stem (11) and fasten with
the nuts (9). Observe the tightening
torquesspeciedinsection7.5.
– Bellows actuator DN15 to 50
Remove the crossbeam (8) from the
valve.
Push the actuator with actuator stem (11)
onto the spigots of the bellows (5.1).
Align pillars (8.1) and fasten the actua-
tor with the nuts (8.2). Observe the tight-
eningtorquesspeciedinsection7.5.
