Satin Stitching
Satin stitching is a series of closely spaced
zig-zag stitches that form a smooth satin-like
surface. It is useful for both utility and
decorative work. Always nnake a test sample
first so that you can adjust the stitch length and
thread tension properly.
Soft fabrics may require a backing to ensure
firm satin stitching. Crisp organdy and lawn are
suitable for this purpose.

Adjusting Stitche Length
1. Turn selector dial to 1 and run the machine
at a slow speed.
2. While running machine, gradually turn dial
toward 0 until stitches are closely spaced
and form a smooth satin stitch.
Adjusting Thread Tension
Satin stitching requires less tension than
straight stitching or open zig-zag stitching.
Furthermore, the wider the stitch, the lighter
the tension on the thread must be.
Notice the stitching on your sample, if the
stitching appears to be too tight, or the fabric is
puckering, lower the thread tension by turning
the dial to a lower number.
