How to connect speaker cables
Connect speaker cables as illustrated below.
Auto Format Decoding (A.F.D.)
This mode allows you to listen to higher-fidelity sound.
Auto Format Decoding (A.F.D.):
The input audio stream is decoded using the optimal processing method according to the audio
format.
However, this receiver will generate a low-frequency signal for output to the subwoofer when
there is no LFE signals.
2-channel/Direct sound mode
You can switch the output sound to 2-channel sound regardless of the recording formats of the
software you are using, the playback device connected, or the sound field settings of the
receiver.
2ch Stereo (2CH STEREO):
The receiver outputs the sound from the front left/right speakers only. There is no sound from
the subwoofer.
Standard 2-channel stereo sources completely bypass the sound field processing and multi-
channel surround formats are downmixed to 2-channels.
Direct (DIRECT):
Presets the sound as it was recorded/encoded without adding any surround effects. However,
this receiver will generate a low-frequency signal for output to the subwoofer when there is no
LFE signals.
When an analog input is selected, this function enables you to enjoy high-quality analog
sources.
Only the volume and front speaker level can be adjusted when an analog input is selected.
Note
Dolby Atmos is decoded as Dolby TrueHD or Dolby Digital Plus when [Direct] or [2ch Stereo] is being
used.
Multi Stereo
This mode allows you to select the decoding mode for listening to 2-channel stereo or monaural
audio as multi-channel audio.
Multi Stereo (MULTI STEREO):
Outputs 2-channel left/right or monaural signals from all speakers. The signals are decoded
using the optimal processing method according to the audio format when multi-channel audio
signals are input.
However, sound may not be output from certain speakers depending on the speaker settings.
Movie mode
You can take advantage of surround sound simply by selecting one of the receiver’s pre-
programmed sound fields. They bring the exciting and powerful sound of movie theaters into
your home.
Dolby Surround (DOLBY SUR):
Dolby Surround upmixer expands traditional audio content for playback through any multi-
channel speaker configuration, including height speakers.
This upmixer is a new and enhanced replacement for the popular Dolby Pro Logic II
technology.
Neural:X (NEURAL:X):
Strip the jacket to 10 mm (13/32 in) at each end of the speaker cables.
