CRANKCASE
GEARSHIFT FORK AND GEARSHIFT CAM
Removal
Remove the gearshift cam bearing retainer No.1 1 and No.2
2 by removing the bearing retainer screws 3 from the lower
crankcase.
Remove the gearshift fork shafts 4 and gearshift forks 5
from the lower crankcase.
Remove the gearshift cam 6 and its bearing 7.
Remove the gearshift arm stopper 8.
GEARSHIFT FORK TO GROOVE CLEARANCE
Using a thickness gauge, check the gearshift fork clearance in
the groove of its gear.
The clearance for each gearshift fork plays an important role in
the smoothness and positiveness of the shifting action.
Shift fork to groove clearance:
Service Limit: 0.5 mm (0.020 in)
09900-20803: Thickness gauge
If the clearance checked is noted to exceed the limit specified,
replace the fork or its gear, or both.
