Shifting and Speed Control
The control lever operates both the drive shift function
and engine throttle. There are control cables between
the control and the shift mechanism and throttle
control, that transfer lever movement to these
functions.
From the neutral position, the first step of the lever
movement controls the shifting. There is a small detent
at the end of this step. The next part of the lever
movement controls the throttle and engine speed .
WARNING!
Possible loss of boat control. Be aware of changes in
the way the control mechanism operates. Hard
shifting, rough lever action, or other abnormal
conditions indicate a problem with the shift/throttle
system. Correct the problem before using the boat.
Continued operation could result in loss of shift and
throttle control.
Verify proper functionality of all control and engine
systems before leaving the dock.
DANGER!
A rotating propeller can cause serious injury. Make
sure no one is in the water near the boat before shifting
the drive in to gear.
Neutral Interlock Button
Your control may have a neutral interlock button. The
neutral interlock button prevents accidental movement
of the control lever out of the neutral position.
To move the control lever away from neutral:
While holding the button, move the control lever in the
desired direction, forward or reverse.
Once the lever is out of the neutral position, release
the button.
The neutral interlock will automatically re-engage
when the control lever is returned to the neutral
position.
