POWER UNIT/
POWER TRIM AND TILT (PTT) SYSTEM
14. Loosen:
Timing belt tensioner
15. Remove:
Driven sprockets
Timing belt
16. Tighten:
Timing belt tensioner
17. Install:
Cylinder head cover
Driven sprockets
Timing belt
Spark plugs
18. Connect:
Fuel hoses
Spark plug leads
19. Install:
Spark plug cap cover
Flywheel magneto cover
POWER TRIM AND TILT (PTT) SYSTEM
PTT fluid
WARNING
To prevent the PTT fluid from spurting out
due to internal pressure, the outboard
should be kept fully tilted up (the tilt rod at
full length) while slowly removing the plug
screw.
1. Check:
PTT fluid level
Low Add fluid to the proper level.
2. Fill:
PTT unit
Checking steps:
Tilt up the outboard and lock it with
the tilt support lever.
Remove the reservoir plug.
Check that the fluid level is directly
below the reservoir plug hole.
Recommended PTT fluid:
ATF Dexron II
