Replacing the timing belt
CAUTION:
• Do not turn the drive sprocket counter-
clockwise, otherwise the valve system
may be damaged.
• Do not remove the ignition timing
pointer.
• Do not turn the drive sprocket or the
driven sprockets when the timing belt is
not installed. Otherwise the piston and
valves will interfere with each other and
be damaged.
1. Remove the flywheel magnet cover.
2. Loosen the flywheel magnet nut.
CAUTION:
Apply force in the direction of the arrows
shown to prevent the flywheel holder from
slipping off easily.
3. Remove the flywheel magnet.
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the engine or tools,
screw in the puller set bolts evenly and
completely so that the puller plate is par-
allel to the flywheel magnet.
NOTE:
Apply force to the crankshaft end until the fly-
wheel magnet comes off the tapered portion
of the crankshaft.
4. Remove the Woodruff key

Do not loosen the pulser coil screw.
5. Turn the drive sprocket clockwise and
align the hole

on the driven sprockets are aligned.
