LACPOverview
LinkAggregationControlProtocol(LACP)isastandardprotocoldenedinIEEE802.3ad.
Linkaggregationmeansthatphysicallinkswiththesametransmissionmediaand
transmissionrateare“bound”together,makingthemlooklikeonelinklogically.This
conceptisalsoknownasTrunk.Itallowsthebandwidthsofparallelphysicallinksbetween
theswitchesorbetweentheswitchandtheservertoincreaseinmultiplessimultaneously.
Asaresult,itbecomesanimporttechnologyinbroadeninglinkbandwidthandcreating
linktransmissionexibilityandredundancy.
Anaggregatedlinkisalsocalledtrunk.Ifaportofthetrunkisblockedorfaulty,thedata
packetswillbedistributedtootherportsofthistrunkfortransmission.Ifthisportrecovers,
thedatapacketswillbere-distributedtoallthenormalportsofthistrunkfortransmission.
