IGMPSnoopingOverview
Becausethemulticastaddressisnotinthesourceaddressofthepacket,theswitchcannot
learnthemulticastaddress.Whentheswitchreceivesamulticastmessage,itbroadcasts
themessagetoalltheportsinthesameVLAN.Ifnomeasuresarenottaken,unwanted
multicastmessagesmaybespreadtoeachnodeofthenetwork,causingagreatwasteof
networkbandwidthresource.
