Digital Safety I/O Module Operation in a Control System Chapter 1
Obtain Firmware
Verify that the firmware revision of the 1756-IB16S and 1756-OBV8S modules
that you use is correct before commissioning the system.
Firmware information for safety I/O devices is available at the Rockwell
Automation Product Compatibility and Download Center (PCDC). The
PCDC is available at:
https://compatibility.rockwellautomation.com/Pages/home.aspx
Only download firmware and access product release notes from the Rockwell
Automation PCDC.
Do not download firmware from non-Rockwell Automation sites.
Safety Function During Firmware Update
The 1756-IB16S and 1756-OBV8S modules are not safety capable when a
firmware update is in process. You must use other methods to maintain the safety
function during the update process.
For information on how to maintain the safety function during the update
process, for example, remove the module from service to perform the update, see
