Pre-ride check
The instrument cluster runs a
test of the 'General' warning light
when the ignition is switched on:
this is the "Pre-Ride-Check" In
the process, the warning light
first lights up red and then yellow
to test its function. The test is
aborted if you start the engine
before it completes.
To initialize, the exhaust flap is
completely opened once then
closed again.
Phase 1
General warning light shows
red.
CHECK! is indicated.
Phase 2
General warning light shows
yellow.
CHECK! is indicated.
If the 'General' warning light does
not show:
Some malfunctions cannot
be indicated if the 'Gener-
al' warning light cannot be dis-
played.
Check that the 'General' warning
light comes on, and that it shows
red and yellow.
Have the malfunction corrected
as soon as possible by a spe-
cialized workshop, preferably
an authorized BMW Motorrad
retailer.
ABS self-diagnosis
The readiness for operation of
the BMW Motorrad Integral ABS
is checked by the self-diagnosis.
Self-diagnosis is performed au-
tomatically when you switch on
the ignition. To check the wheel
sensors, the motorcycle must
drive faster than 3 mph (5 km/h).

Checking the diagnosable

stopped.
ABS warning light flashes.

while starting off.
