5.2 Preparation
5.2.1 Filling the smoke solution
When working with UltraTraceUV®
smoke solution, always wear nitrile
rubber protective gloves and safety
goggles.
! Filling SMT 300 with a liquid that is not recommend-
ed by the manufacturer can result in damage to the
vehicles being tested and void the warranty of the
SMT 300.
¶ Before using the unit for the first time, fill the entire
content of the bottle with the UltraTraceUV® smoke
solution into the SMT 300.
i Check regularly whether the fill level is near the
FULL mark. If this is not the case, add UltraTraceUV®
smoke solution.

5.2.2 Connecting the compressed air
i The supply pressure to the SMT 300 must be be-
tween 3.4bar and 12bar (50psi and 150psi). The
optimal supply pressure is 6.2bar (90psi).
¶ Connect the compressed air.
Fig. 6: Compressed-air connection
! If the installed compressed-air connection does not
fit, use and install a suitable compressed-air connec-
tion:
1. Remove the existing compressed-air connection.
2. Apply Teflon® thread sealant to be threads.
3. Attach the suitable compressed-air connection and
tighten to a maximum of 25Nm.
