Airflow Direction
The airflow through the fan trays and power supplies on the Cisco NCS 5500 series modular router is from
the port side intake (front-to-back cooling). To ensure proper airflow, you must make sure that when you
install the router its air intake is positioned in a cold aisle and the air exhaust is positioned in a hot aisle.
Maximum Power Available to the Router
The maximum power available for operations depends on the input power from your power source, the number
and output capabilities of your power supplies, and the power redundancy mode that you use.
The following table lists the amount of power available for 3-kW power supplies depending on power inputs,
numbers of power supplies, and the mode used.
