CONFIGURATION WITH BAR CODES
This and following sections provide programming bar codes to configure your reader by
changing the default settings. For details about additional methods of programming,
see "
Customizing Configuration Settings" on page 15.
CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS
Once the reader is set up, you can change the default parameters to meet your applica-
tion needs. Refer to
Standard Defaults, starting on page 258 for initial configuration in
order to set the default values and select the interface for your application.
The following configuration parameters are divided into logical groups, making it easy to
find the desired function based on its reference group.
Interface Configuration:
RS-232 Standard Settings, starting on page 22
RS-232/USB-COM Settings, starting on page 27
Keyboard Interface, starting on page 34
USB-OEM Interface, starting on page 63
Parameters common to all interface applications:
Global Prefix/Suffix, starting on page 68
Data Format, starting on page 67 gives options to control the messages sent to the
Host system by selecting parameters to control the message strings sent to the
handheld.
Reading Parameters, starting on page 78 controls various operating modes and
indicators status functioning.
NOTE: You must first enable your PowerScan to read bar codes in order to
use this section. If you have not done this, go to
Setup, starting on page 3
and complete the appropriate procedure.
NOTE: In the following sections, text shown with a green star indicates a
factory default value.
