19. PINION GEAR
LUBRICATION
DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove the flange nut and the rear wheel.
2. Remove the dust shield by pulling it away from the mower.
3. Remove the circlip, washer, and the pinion gear from the
axle.
4. Remove the ratchet key from the axle and ratchet holder.
5. Remove the ratchet holder from the axle shaft, and then
carefully remove the spring from the ratchet holder.
6. Remove the inner washer, but do not remove the inner
circlip.
7. Inspect the parts for excessive wear and replace if
necessary. Clean the transmission axle, pinion gear,
ratchet key, and ratchet holder.
