8. Remove the flywheel (P. 9 -8 ).
PKA/VKA/VLA types only:
Pull the flywheel brake lever and secure the lever to the
handlebar with a strap or equivalent material. This allows
the flywheel and crankshaft to turn.
Holding the flywheel with the flywheel holder special tool
or a commercially available strap wrench, remove the
14 mm special nut.

Note: Ignition coil removal my be required when using a
strap wrench and/or puller.
Position a commercially available 2-jaw flywheel puller on
the flywheel with one of the puller jaws under the magnets
(at the PULLER marks).
Set a shop towel or equivalent cloth between the flywheel
and puller.
Tighten the flywheel puller until snug and then tap the end
of the puller with a heavy brass hammer to release the
flywheel.
Do not use an impact wrench when removing the
flywheel. The flywheel may be likely to break if too much
force is applied.
