HRN216 BLADE HOLDER/ROTO-STOP®
REMOVAL
1. Inspect the blade brake and drive clutch wear (P. 3-13).
2. Remove the top cover and recoil starter cover (P. 7 - 2
).
3. Turn the fuel valve to the OFF position, and disconnect the spark plug cap. Tilt the mower on its right side to
prevent:
• Fuel leakage.
• Engine oil from leaking out of the crankcase vent into the air cleaner and onto the Roto-Stop assembly when
the mower is set back on its wheels.
4. Remove the blades (P. 3 - 4
).
5. Wrap the tips of needle nose pliers with tape to prevent
damaging the clutch spring. Use needle nose pliers to lift
the clutch return spring hook off the upper anchor point
and then remove the spring.
During removal, avoid damaging the spring by using the
spring coils to lift the spring.
Make sure the spring contains a rubber tube inside of it.
This rubber tube is required for vibration dampening.
After removal, inspect the spring as outlined on (P. 4-10
).
6. Disconnect the Roto-Stop inner cable from the ball
plate by pushing the inner cable up the cable housing. If
the inner cable will not move freely, inspect the Roto-Stop
cable and lubricate or replace as necessary.
