How to Make the Machine Safe (Mast
Lowered)
Important: You can complete most of the maintenance
procedures with the mast lowered. Unless a maintenance
procedure instructs you differently, you must lower the
mast.
1 Park the machine on level, solid ground.
If necessary, refer to Stopping and Parking the
Machine in the Operator Manual.
2 Lower the mast.
3 Put the attachment flat on the ground.
4 Stop the engine and remove the starter key.
5 Disconnect the battery to prevent accidental
operation of the engine.
6 If necessary, put chocks against the two sides of the
wheels before you get below the machine.

Lifted)
!MWARNING
Mast Support Chains
You can be killed or injured if the mast/carriage drops
while you are working under it. Install the mast
support chains before working beneath a raised mast/
carriage.

!MCAUTION
Stand on a serviceable working platform to fit/remove
chain(s). Do not lean a ladder against the mast - it can
slip off. Do not stretch as you could lose balance and
fall.

Installing the Mast Support Chains
1 Park the machine on firm level ground. Apply the park
brake.
2 Remove any load and attachment from the carriage.
3 Select the number of chains required (as shown) of 1
ton (1000 kg) minimum safe working load. Inspect the
chains to make sure they are serviceable.

4 Raise the carriage to give enough clearance to
complete the task. Switch OFF the engine and
remove the starter key.
!MWARNING
Make sure the chain(s) are secured correctly.

5 Fit the support chain(s) as shown.
