9.2 Engine oil
Oil Level Check and Refill (See page 54)
1. Check engine oil before starting the engine and 5
minutes or more after the engine has stopped.
2. To check the oil level, draw out the dipstick, wipe it
clean, replace it, and draw it out again. Check to
see that the oil level lies between the two notches.
3. If the level is too low, add new oil to the prescribed
level at the oil port.
4. Discard used lubricating oil in a safe place. Never
mix two different types of oil.
5. Use the proper Engine Oil SAE according to the
ambient temperatures. Refer to 8.2 “LUBRICANTS.”
Oil used in the engine should have an American Pe-
troleum Institute (API)/SAE classification of Service
DS(CD). It is easier to exchange oil while the engine
is warm.
Depending on prevailing air temperature ; use oil of
viscosity SAE 15W - 40.

Engine Oil Change
NOTE :
• Before changing the oil, be sure to stop the engine.
After the first 50 hours of operation of a new tractor and
each 250 hours thereafter, exchange oil.
1. To change the oil, remove the drain plug at the bot-
tom of the engine and drain the oil completely. Oil
can be drained out easily when the engine is still
warm.
2. Replace the drain plug.
3. Fill with the new oil up to the upper notch on the
dipstick. When the oil has to be changed to that of a
different brand, the inside of the crank case should
be washed and cleaned with an approved cleaning
fluid before filling with new engine oil, even if hours
used does not reach the hours stated above.
