Finishing work
– Check that the wiring harness, throttle cables, and brake and clutch lines can move
freely and are routed correctly.
– Install the front fender. ( p. 49)
– Install the front wheel. ( p. 76)
– Check the play of the steering head bearing. ( p. 47)
– Remove the motorcycle from the lift stand. ( p. 42)
– Install the start number plate. ( p. 49)
– Mount the handlebar cushion.
11.11 Checking the play of the steering head bearing
Warning
Danger of accidents Incorrect steering head bearing play impairs the handling characteristic and damages components.
– Correct incorrect steering head bearing play immediately. (Your authorized KTM workshop will be glad to help.)

If the bike is ridden with play in the steering head bearing, the bearing and the bearing seats in the frame can become dam-
aged over time.
Preparatory work
– Raise the motorcycle with a lift stand. ( p. 42)
