7.5 Preparing the vehicle for riding on wet sand
– Make sure that no radiator covers ( p. 91) are installed.

– Check the radiator cap.
Value on the radiator cap 1.8 bar (26 psi)
» If the indicated value does not correspond to the setpoint
value:
Warning
Danger of scalding During motorcycle oper-
ation, the coolant gets very hot and is under
pressure.
–
Do not open the radiator, the radiator hoses
or other cooling system components if the
engine or the cooling system are at operat-
ing temperature.
– Allow the cooling system and the engine to
cool down before you open the radiator, the
radiator hoses or other components of the
cooling system.
– In the event of scalding, rinse the area
affected immediately with lukewarm water.
– Change the radiator cap.

– Adjust the carburetor jetting and setting.

Your authorized KTM workshop can recommend the
right carburetor tuning.
– Clean the chain.
Chain cleaner ( p. 125)
– Grease the chain.
Universal oil spray ( p. 126)
– Clean the radiator fins.
– Straighten the bent radiator fins carefully.
Condition
Regular use in sand
– Change the piston every 10 operating hours.
