Preparatory work
– Remove main silencer. ( p. 59)

Remove glass fiber yarn filling

from inner tube

– Clean the parts that need to be reinstalled and check for dam-
age.
– Mount the new glass fiber yarn filling on the inner tube.

Mount the glass fiber yarn filling so that the thermal
protection foil is positioned on the right in the direction
of travel.
– Slide outer tube over the inner tube with the new glass fiber
yarn filling.

Seal the connecting cap

to the outer tube with sili-
cone.
– Mount and tighten the screws.
Guideline
Screw, main silencer M5 7 Nm (5.2 lbf ft)
Finishing work
– Install the main silencer. ( p. 59)
11.30 Removing the fuel tank
Danger
Fire hazard Fuel is highly flammable.
The fuel in the fuel tank expands when warm and can escape if overfilled.
– Do not fuel the vehicle in the vicinity of open flames or lit cigarettes.
– Switch off the engine for refueling.
– Make sure that no fuel is spilled; particularly not on hot parts of the vehicle.
– If any fuel is spilled, wipe it off immediately.
– Observe the specifications for refueling.
