1 Generalinformaon
Please read this documentaon carefully before installing the inverter and observe the safety
instrucons!
This document only includes the most frequently asked quesons and presents them in a
simplied form for a beer overview. Detailed technical and funconal explanaons can be
found in the comprehensive product documentaon.

1.1 Target group
Work on the product must only be carried out by qualied personnel. The personnel must
be qualied in accordance with the IEC 60364 or CENELEC HD 384. Qualied personnel are
persons who have the following knowledge and experience:
• They are familiar with the installaon, mounng, commissioning, and operaon of elect-
rical and electronic modules.
• They have the corresponding qualicaons for their work.
• They know and can apply all regulaons for the prevenon of accidents, direcves, and
laws applicable at the place of use.
1.2 Applicaonasdirected
The product is designed for the installaon into electrical systems or machinery.
The i500 product family is designed for the power range of 0.25 ... 132 kW. The inverter i550
is suitable for conveyor and travelling drives, pumps, fans, winders, liing systems and many
other machine tasks. The inverter is not to be used as a household appliance, but for com-
mercial or professional purposes only.
The inverter is not a machine in terms of the Machinery Direcve.
1.3 Device-specicstandardsanddirecves
• The product meets the protecon requirements of the Low-Voltage Direcve
2014/35/EU.
• The harmonized standard EN 61800-5-1 is used for the inverters.
1.4 Relevantstandardsanddirecvesfortheoperator
Applicaonasdirected
• If the product is used in accordance with the technical data, the drive systems comply
with the EN 61800-3 categories.
• The inverter may only be used commercially or professionally as dened by
EN 61000-3-2.
• The test voltage for insulaon resistance tests between a control potenal of 24 V and PE
must be measured in accordance with EN 61800-5-1.
• The cables must be installed in accordance with EN 60204-1 or US Naonal Electrical
Code NFPA 70 / Canadian Electrical Code C22.1.
Commissioning
• Commissioning or starng the operaon as directed of a machine with the product is pro-
hibited unl it has been ensured that the machine meets the regulaons of the Machine-
ry Direcve (2006/42/EC) and the standard EN 60204-1.
• Commissioning or starng the operaon as directed is only permissible if the EMC Direc-
ve 2014/30/EU is complied with.
