Checking the fuel system
Check that the sightglass 1 of the fuel prefilter
is full of diesel fuel.
If the sightglass 1 is not full of diesel: Bleed/de-
water the fuel system, see page 58.
Bleeding/dewatering the fuel system with the hand pump on the fuel prefilter
Dewatering
Dewater the fuel prefilter at regular intervals.
Place a container under drain screw 2.
Shut off fuel supply (only when the fuel prefilter is installed at the height of the tank). To do this, turn knurled
screw 4 clockwise.
Operate hand pump 3 and collect the water/fuel mixture.
Tighten drain screw 2.
Open fuel supply by opening knurled screw 4.
Start engine and run for about 1 minute.
The fuel system bleeds itself automatically.
Check fuel system for leaks.

When driving uphill/downhill with an almost
empty fuel tank, the system may be unable to
draw fuel from the tank. In this case air is
ingested into the fuel system and the vehicle
comes to a stop while driving uphill/downhill or
shortly afterwards.
1 Sightglass
2 Drain screw
3 Hand pump
4 Knurled screw
5 Bleed screw
