OW RANGE 1 button.
The shi request stays active for a maximum
of 30 seconds. If all requirements have not
been fullled within this time, shi operation
must be started again.

Switch the transmission to position i.
If shi oper
ation is successful, the message
LOW RANGE on appears on the instrument
display and an audible signal sounds. The vehi-
cle changes automatically to the O drive
program.

Switch the transmission to position h.

At a speed below 3 km/h the brake must be
actuat
ed when shiing from i to h. At
3 km/h or higher, the brake no longer has to
be actuated to shi to h.

If you switch o t
he vehicle in LOW RANGE, it
remains in LOW RANGE the next time you
start the engine. The O drive program is
activated (/ page 151).
In the on-road position, shi t
o HIGH RANGE

The vehicle is started and you are not driving
faster than 70 km/h.

Press LOW RANGE 1 button.

tial lock is engaged on a rm surface
If you engage dierential locks on a rm and
non-slip surface, you may lose control of the
vehicle.

Always disengage the dier
ential locks
immediately on a rm, high-traction sur-
face.

WARNING Risk of accident due t
o deacti-
vated driving safety systems
When the dier
ential locks are engaged, ABS,
4ETS, ESP
®
and BAS are deactivated.
Because of this, the wheels can lock while
braking and the braking distance is increased.

Always disengage the dier
ential locks
immediately on a rm, high-traction sur-
face.
