WARNING
Neglect or improper maintenance, repairs, or inspections of the
power package can result in product damage or serious injury or
death. Perform all procedures as described in this manual. If you
are not familiar with proper maintenance or service procedures,
consign the work to an authorized Mercury Marine dealer.
To ensure safety and retain dependability, keep your power
package in the best operating condition by performing the periodic
inspections and maintenance listed in the Inspection and
Maintenance Schedule. Record maintenance performed in the
Maintenance Log at the back of this book. Save all maintenance
work orders and receipts.
Replacement Parts for Your Power Package
Mercury recommends using original Mercury Precision
replacement parts and lubricants.
EPA Emissions Regulations
All new Mercury Jet Drives manufactured by Mercury Marine are
certified to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, as
conforming to the requirements of the regulations for the control of
air pollution from new Mercury Jet Drive motors. This certification
is contingent on certain adjustments set to factory standards. For
this reason, the factory procedure for servicing the product must
be strictly followed and, wherever practicable, returned to the
original intent of the design. Maintenance, replacement, or repair
of the emission control devices and systems may be performed by
any marine spark ignition (SI) engine repair establishment or
individual.
