3 Basic Operation
3.1Introduction
Chapter 3 describes the basic operational procedure of FPD. For the detailed operation procedure of
the GC-2010, refer to the instruction manual of the GC-2010.
 CAUTION
It is necessary to set each parameter before pressing the [Start GC] key. Be
sure to read the instruction manual of the GC-2010 before starting the
analyzer.
FPD operation procedure
<Key operations>
Make sure that FPD is set to [Off] on the [DET] key screen.
Press the [Start GC] key to start control.
Wait until the detector reaches to the set temperature.
Set the detector control of FPD to [On].
Set each APC of H2 and of Air to [On] to set the flow rate on the [Det GAS] screen.
Press the [Ignite] key to ignite the FPD.
A message saying "Ignition finished" appears indicating that ignition is complete.
When the baseline stabilizes, press the [Zero adj.] key on the [MONIT] screen to perform zero point
adjustment.
Analysis starts
 CAUTION
In consideration of the principle, FPD is used on the condition of excess
hydrogen. Accordingly, unburnt hydrogen is discharged. Be careful of
ventilation for the sake of safety. In addition, be sure to allow flow of hydrogen
gas after connecting the column to the detector carrier gas inlet port.
Note that repeatedly injecting large amount of chloride solvent (such as chloroform and dichloromethane)
may cloud the quarts cylinder and deteriorate the sensitivity.
