3.11Setting Flow Rate of Detector Gases
(Hydrogen/Air)
Set the flow rate of hydrogen and air respectively with the following procedure.
1.
Supply hydrogen and air.
2.
Press the [DET] key and display the setting screen of the detector. Select the [Det Gas] in the PF
menu.
3.
Enter the flow rate of hydrogen and air respectively in the detector gas setting screen.
For the optimum flow rate of each components, usually set the following values.
For the analysis of sulfur components (S):
Hydrogen (H2) Approx. 60 ml/min. (Approx. 75 kPa)
Air (AIR) Approx. 70 ml/min (Approx. 13 kPa)
For the analysis of phosphorous components (P):
Hydrogen (H2) Approx. 80 ml/min (Approx. 95 kPa)
Air (AIR) Approx. 120 m;/min (Approx. 24 kPa)
When the carrier gas flow rate is large in the analysis such as a wide bore column is used, the hydrogen
flame is apt to be extinguished during solvent or sample component eluting. It is recommended that the
carrier gas flow rate is less than
5ml/min.
If the flow rate is larger than 5ml/min, change the analysis conditions as follows.
(1) Adjust the Shield ring height higher than the standard position. (ex. 2mm higher)
(2) Set flow rate as follows. The sensitivity decrease but the flame is less likely to be extinguished.
For sulfur compound For phosphorous compound
Recommended H2 : 60ml/min, Air : 70ml/min H2 : 80ml/min, Air : 120ml/min
When Column flow rate
is large.
H2 : 80ml/min, Air : 110ml/min
column flow rate > 10ml/min
H2 : 85ml/min, Air : 110ml/min
column flow rate : 5 to 10ml/min
H2 : 100ml/min, Air : 100ml/min
column flow rate > 10ml/min
