GAS ASSISTED TILT CYLINDER

This gas assist tilt cylinder contains high pressure gas
and it must not be disassembled, punctured, inciner-
ated or exposed to heat.
REMOVAL
Tilt engine fully up and lower the manual tilt lock levers 1.
Remove the snap ring 2 and push tilt cylinder upper shaft pin
3 out.

During the following procedure , firmly secure the en-
gine and support its weight. (see right)
Remove the two STBD motor mounting bolts 4.
Loosen the STBD clamp screw 5.
Loosen the clamp bracket shaft nut 6.
NOTE:
Complete removal of the clamp bracket shaft nut is not required.
Nut should only be loosened as far as the end of the shaft threads
to facilitate removal of the gas cylinder.
