LUBRICATION SYSTEM - Replacement of Engine Oil and Oil Riter

REPLACEMENT OF ENGINE OIL
AND OIL FILTER
1. DRAIN ENGINE OIL
(a) Remove the oil filler cap.
lbl Remove the oH drain plug and drain the oil into a con-
tainer.
2. REPLACE OIL FILTER
(a) Using SST, remove the oil filter .

lb) Inspect and clean the oil filter installation surface.
le) Apply clean engine oil to the gasket of a new oil filter.
kl) Lightly screw in the oil filter to where you feel resis-
tance.
(el Then. using SST. tighten the oil filter an extra 3/4
tum .

3. FILL WITH ENGIIIIE OIL
(a) Clean and install the oil drain plug with a new gasket.
Torque the drain plug.
Torque : 400 kg-cm (29 ft-lb, 39 N·ml
lb) Fill the engine with new oil, API grade CO or better .
If it is impossible to get the CO or better grade by any
means, you may use the CC grade.
NOTE: Be sure to use CO type for the vehicle with tur-
bocharger .

lcl Install the oil filler cap.
4. START ENGINE ANO CHECK FOR LEAKS
5. RECHECK OIL LEVEL
om <> Recheck the engine oil level and refill as nec~sary .

REMOVAL OF OIL PUMP
NOTE: When repairing th e oil pump. lhe oil pan and
strainer should be remove d and cleaned.
1. RAISE VEHICLE
CAUTION: Be sure the vehicle is sec urely supported .
2. O~IN ENGINE OIL
3. REMOVE TIMING BELT
(See steps 1 to 12 on pages EM-26 to 28)
4. REMOVE NO. 2 IDLER AND CRANKSHAFT TIMING
PULLEYS (See steps 16 and 18 on page EM-29)
