(c) Place the spring and retainer o n the spring seat
(d) Using SST, press ·the retainer and place the two
keepers around the valve stem.
SST 09202-43013
(e) Unscrew the SST and confirm proper fit of the
keepers.
(f) Using a pastic hammer. lightly tap the valve stem tip
to assure proper fit

(a) Install the valve lifters with shims on the valve stem
tips .
(bl Check the valve lifters and shims are installed in the
correct order.
(c) Check the valve lifters rotate smoothly by hand.
4. INSTA LL HALF CIRCLE PLUG
Apply No. 102 seal packing (Part No. 08826-00080) or
equivalent to the half circle plug and install it on the
cylinde r head.
5. INSTA LL CAMSHAFT
(a) Place the camshaft in the cyfinder head .
(b) Place the bearing caps with the top of the number on
the cap pointing toward the front as shown.
(c) Gradually install and tighten the cap bolts from the
inside in three passes. Torque the bolts on the final
pass.
Torque : 185 kg-cm (13 ft- lb. 18 N·m)

INSPECT A ND ADJUST VALVE CLEARANCE
NOTE: Refer to INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT OF
VALV E CLEARANCE on page EM-16.

7. IN STA LL CA M SHAFT OIL SEAL RETAINER
(a) Apply No. 102 seal packing (Part No. 08826-00080)
or equivalent to the camshaft oil seal retainer.
(b) Install the camshaft oil seal retainer with four bolts.
8 . IN STALL W ATE.R OUTLET HOUSING
Install a new gasket and water outlet housing with three
bolts.
9. INSTALL NO. 2 AIR INTAKE MA NIFOLD STAY TO
CYLIND ER HEAD (CE70)
10. IN STA LL EXHA UST MA NIFOLD
(FR Veh icles)
(a) Install a new manifold gasket. exhaust manifold and
heater outlet pipe with the gasket.
(b) Install the two heater outlet pipe mounting bolts.
(c) Install and torque the six bolts and two nuts.
Torq ue: 475 kg -c m (34 ft-lb, 4 7 N·m)
(d) !nstall the insulator with three bolts .

(al Install a new manifo ld gasket and exhaust manifold
wi t h six bolts and two nuts.
(b) Torque the bolts and nuts.
Torq ue: 475 kg-cm (34 ft- lb, 4 7 N·m)
