Transmission Retarder, VHD Only
DANGER
DO NOT use the retarder on wet or
slippery roads. The retarder may cause
vehicle to slide and cause an accident
which could result in injury or death.
CAUTION
Apply the retarder only when engine is at
closed throttle.
CAUTION
Observe transmission and engine
temperatures. Select the lowest possible
transmission range in order to maximize
the cooling system capacity and retarding.
If overheating occurs, decrease the use
of the retarder and use service brakes
instead. Check the retarder overtemp
light.
