STARTING THE ENGINE
Start Procedure
Note: For cold weather starting, see “COLD WEATHER OPERATION” page 340.
These starting and operating procedures should be followed for all engines. For more
detailed information about design and function on a non-Volvo engine, read the operator’s
manual from the engine manufacturer.
Note: Before starting the engine, see "Instruments and Controls" section for detailed
information on how the gauges and tell-tales work.

DO NOT use ether or other combustible
starting aids in any Volvo engine.
Introduction of ether or similar starting
aids could cause a fire or explosion
resulting in severe property damage,
serious personal injury or death.
