5.5 WATER TEMPERATURE FAULT TEST
A high water temperature fault is simulated by adjusting the Automatic Reset Over-
Temperature switch.
Water Temperature Fault Test Instructions
1. Start the unit in the normal operating mode and allow the unit to stabilize at its setpoint.
2. On the Automatic Reset Over-Temperature switch, note the current setting, then:
a. Press the Set button two times, to activate a setting change.
b. Use the Down arrow to lower the setting to a temperature below the Outlet
temperature displayed on the Controller’s front face (see Figure 5-5b).
c. Press the Set and Down arrow at the same time to save that temperature setting.

NOTE:
If the Controller’s is not configured to display outlet temperature, go to the Main Menu
Advanced Setup Unit Front Panel Configuration screen and set the Upper-Right
Display parameter to Water Outlet.

3. Once the Automatic Reset Over-Temperature switch setting is approximately just below
the actual outlet water temperature, the unit should shut down, the FAULT indicator should
start flashing, and a High Water Temp Switch Open fault message should be displayed. It
should not be possible to restart the unit.
4. Repeat Step 2 to return the Automatic Reset switch, but press the Up arrow to it to its
original setting.
5. The unit should start once the setting is above the actual outlet water temperature.
6. Repeat steps 1 – 4 on the Manual Reset switch. However, unlike the Automatic Reset
switch, the unit will not restart automatically when the original temperature is restored. You
must press the RST (Reset) button to restart the unit.
