8 Check the engine and engine mounting.
8 Look for loose or damaged fasteners.
8 Check the propeller for damage.

Do not start the engine out of water.
Overheating and serious engine damage
can occur.

OPERATION AFTER A LONG PERIOD
OF STORAGE
When operating the engine after a long
period (12 months) of storage, proceed as
follows:
1) Use a 50:1 gasoline-oil mixture to
start the engine.
2) Start the engine. Leave it idling.

8 Do not touch or remove electrical parts
when starting or during operation.
8 Keep hands, hair, and clothes away
from the flywheel and other rotating
parts while the engine is running.
3) Watch for oil flowing through the oil
feed pipes. After any air in the oil
lines has been expelled, the oil injec-
tion system should supply oil normal-
ly. If no oil is flowing after 10 minutes
of idling, consult your Yamaha dealer.

Be sure to take the above steps when
operating the engine after a long period
of storage. Otherwise engine seizure
could occur.
