4.1.2 Fill the 3.15 ml plastic cartridge (steps 7 to 15)
Move the plunger rod slowly and steadily when filling the cartridge. Do not move the
plunger rod side-to-side as the seal between the plunger and the inside of the car-
tridge might break.
7. Set the insulin vial on a hard surface, like a table.
8. Clean the rubber membrane of the vial with an alcohol
wipe.
9. Remove the protective needle cap.
Ensure that nothing touches the needle.
10. Push the bottle holder of the CombiFill base onto the top
of the insulin bottle.
Make sure that the filling needle has pierced the rubber
membrane of the insulin vial.

4.1.1 Prepare the 3.15 ml plastic cartridge (steps 1 to 6)
1. Have the following materials ready:
• New 3.15 ml plastic cartridge with protective cap and
plunger rod
• New filling needle with protective cap
• New 3.0 ml glass cartridge
• CombiFill base and extension
• Insulin at room temperature to minimize formation
of air bubbles.
2. Wash your hands
3. Remove the plastic cartridge, plunger rod, protective cap
and filling needle from the blister pack.
Caution: Be careful not to touch the open end of
the filling needle or the plastic cartridge tip as this
may harm your health.
4. Place the filling needle with protective cap onto the plastic
cartridge tip and make sure the connection is tight.
5. Place the plastic cartridge with the filling needle into the
CombiFill base.
The bottom edge of the cartridge should be level with the
bottom of the CombiFill base. Press the cartridge firmly into
place until it snaps in.
6. Move the plunger back and forth in the cartridge twice to
distribute the lubricant.
Pull the plunger back to fill the cartridge with air.
