10.2.2 Your insulin pump
Caution: Check your insulin pump for chips or cracks at least once
per day, especially if it is dropped. Do not use your insulin pump if it is
chipped or cracked. If there are chips or cracks, it is possible that water
or other liquids, dust, insulin or other foreign substances will enter your in-
sulin pump and may lead to malfunction.
Caution: Avoid electromagnetic fields of radar or antenna instal-
lations, high-voltage sources, X-Ray sources, MRI, CAT scan or other
sources of electrical current. Do not use your insulin pump in these areas.
Electromagnetic fields may cause malfunction to your insulin pump.
Always stop your insulin pump beforehand. If the pump is not stopped in
these situations, the insulin delivery may be stopped immediately and an
error “E7: Electronic Error” may occur.
Inspect the display window for any cracks or blank spots that would indicate poor
condition.
If your insulin pump has had contact with water and/or other items as listed in sec-
tion 9.3 “Your insulin pump and water”, immediately dry it well with a soft, dry cloth.
Only use a soft, dry cloth to clean your insulin pump and the cartridge compartment.
If the compartment is too dirty to be cleaned with a dry cloth, send your insulin pump
to your Accu-Chek customer service center for insulin pumps for cleaning.
Caution: Do not use solvents, strong detergents, acidic or alkaline-based
substances, bleaching agents, scouring pads or sharp instruments for
cleaning as they may damage your insulin pump.
Caution: Always remove the cartridge and adapter and put your insulin
pump into STOP while cleaning. Avoid pressing the keys of your insulin
pump during cleaning, as this may accidentally change your pump settings.
Always check your personal settings before use in order to avoid incorrect
insulin delivery. Prior to re-connecting the pump, make sure that the time
Your insulin pump calculates the service life (i.e. the period before the End of Use
Time is scheduled) based on the time that the pump has been in RUN mode. The
periods when the insulin pump is put into STOP or the PowerPack is removed are not
counted.
By returning your insulin pump to your Accu-Chek customer service center for insulin
pumps, you are consenting to Disetronic Medical Systems AG performing any testing
(including destructive testing) deemed necessary for proper inspection and repair of
the pump.
