PowerFlex 70 Adjustable Frequency AC Drive
Table 4 - Wiring Specifications
AC Supply Source Considerations
PowerFlex 70 drives are suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering up to a
maximum of 200,000 rms symmetrical amperes, and a maximum of 600V.
If the drive has a system ground fault monitor (residual current device), use
Type B (adjustable) devices to avoid nuisance tripping.
Unbalanced, Ungrounded, High Resistance or B-phase Grounded Distribution Systems
Install an isolation transformer on an ungrounded distribution system where the
line-to-ground voltages on any phase could exceed 125% of the nominal line-to-
line voltage. See Wiring and Grounding Guidelines for PWM AC Drives,
publication DRIVES-IN001
, for more information on impedance grounded and
ungrounded systems.

(1) Control and signal wires must be separated from power wires by at least 0.3 m (1 ft).
(2) We recommend the use of shielded wire for AC input power (even if it is not necessary).

(1) (3)
(4)
(3) If the wires are short and contained within a cabinet that has no sensitive circuits, we recommend the use of shielded wire (even if it
is not necessary).
(4) I/O terminals that are labeled “(–)” or “Common” are not referenced to earth ground and are designed to greatly reduce common
mode interference. Grounding these terminals can cause signal noise.
