5.3 Auxiliary power selection
AUX PWR/SNAC overview
The AUX PWR/SNAC terminal block is located on the top left corner of the power supply. Using the AUTOPULSE Panel Programmer,
you can configure this point as either a 24 V Aux power (with Class B support - see Wiring notes) or as a Class B simple reverse polarity
Notification Appliance Circuit (NAC).
The AUX PWR/SNAC is rated 2 A maximum. The current used is deducted from the total available power supply current.
Note: Any external compatible module using the Aux power can only be Class B.
Figure 21: AUX/SNAC terminal
Table 16: AUX/SNAC wiring specifications
Output rating: 29.5 V maximum
Current Rating: 2 A, maximum.
Earth Detection Threshold 10K ohms minimum from either positive or negative terminals.
Wiring Gauge: 18 AWG (min.) to 12 AWG (max.).
Wiring notes:
• All wiring from the AUX/SNAC is power limited.
• The conductors must test free of all grounds and stray voltages before connection to appliances and panel.
• Terminate Class B NACs, as shown, using a 733-894 EOL. For Canadian applications, mount end-of-line resistor to a TEPG-US Model
431537 EOL plate in accordance with ULC-S527.
• If the wiring is routed outside the building, use a listed secondary protector. Use 2081-9044 (rated 0.2 A). Install a protector at each
building exit or entrance. Each 2081-9044 adds 6 ohms wiring resistance, and greatly reduces the wiring distance.
• External wiring from the Aux power tap is not supervised unless an end-of-line relay is wired to Aux power, and normally open
contacts are monitored by the FACU (IDNet or IO point). Relay current must be considered as part of the load. When only addressable
devices are connected to the Aux power tap, an end-of-line relay is not required. The power for the addressable devices is supervised.
Aux power Class B wiring is supported by the above configurations.
