LONG PERIODS OF INACTIVITY
If the vehicle remains unused for
more than 20 days, disconnect
the 20A fuse, in order to avoid the
battery deterioration resulting from the
current consumption due to the
multifunction computer.
NOTE: Disconnecting the 20-A fuse will
reset the clock and red line setting. To
re-set these functions, see page 16
(MULTIFUNCTION COMPUTER) .
After a long period of inactivity of the
vehicle some precautions are necessary
to avoid any problem.
Further, it is important to carry out the
necessary repairs and a general check up
before the period of inactivity, since you
could forget to carry them out later.
Proceed as follows:
u
Extract the spark plug and pour a
teaspoon (5-10 cm³ ) of two-stroke
engine oil into the cylinder.
Move the ignition switch to position “
”,
press the start push button “
” for a few
seconds, to distribute the oil evenly on
the cylinder surfaces.
Put back the spark plug.
u
Remove the battery, see page 65
(REMOVING THE BATTERY) and
page 64 (LONG INACTIVITY OF THE
BATTERY).
u
Wash and dry the vehicle, see page 73
(CLEANING).
u
Polish the painted surfaces with wax.
u
Inflate the tyres, see page 33 (TYRES).
u
By means of a suitable support, position
the vehicle so that both tyres are raised
from the ground.
u
Place the vehicle in an unheated, not-
humid room, away from sunlight, with
minimum temperature variations.
u
Cover the vehicle avoiding the use of
plastic or waterproof materials.
AFTER A PERIOD OF INACTIVITY
u
Uncover and clean the vehicle, see
page 73 (CLEANING).
u
Check the charge of the battery, see
page 66 (RECHARGING THE
BATTERY) and install it, see page 66
(INSTALLING THE BATTERY).
u
Refill the fuel tank, see page 25 (FUEL).
u
Carry out the preliminary checking
operations, see page 35
(PRELIMINARY CHECKING
OPERATIONS).
Have a test ride at moderate
speed in a low-traffic area.
