Basting stitch
TIPS
Securing a basted seam
· to secure basting stitches, sew a few normal length
straight stitches at the beginning and end of the seam
Basting
· use a fine darning thread; it is easier to remove after
the seam has been sewn

Basting stitch
· for all work where a very long stitch is desired
· quick and easy basting of seams, hems, etc.

This feature is a stitch rather than a function (such as the
long stitch). When this stitch (No. 21) is selected, the
machine stitches a straight stitch, sewing every fourth
one. The longest stitch possible is 20 mm when the stitch
length is set at 5mm.
