Transformer Sizing
If your application requires a transformer, use the following table for sizing the
KVA rating. The values in the table are based on "worst case" power usage and
can be considered a conservative recommendation. You can downsize the
high ambient temperatures (>40°C) and drive operation near the maximum
values only if the peak power usage is less than the transformer continuous
power rating. Other factors that may influence the required KVA rating are
speeds.
Table 2 Transformer KVA Ratings
At speeds near the maximum operating speed, transformer output voltage drop
may become a critical issue for proper operation. Typically, higher KVA
transformers have lower voltage drop (due to lower impedance).
AC Line Fusing and Wire Size
You must incorporate over current protection for the incoming AC power with
the minimum rating shown here. EMC recommends Bussman or Littlefuse in
the following types: KTK-R, KTK.
