Replacing a Toner Cartridge
Use the following procedure when replacing a toner cartridge.
Note
• If the toner cartridge that needs to be replaced is not at the top of the cartridge slot, rotate the cartridge
slot using the control panel. For more information, refer to "Rotating a Toner Cartridge" (P. 163).
If the "Replace Toner" message is displayed and the printer is not in operation, the cartridge indicated in
the message is placed usually at the top on the cartridge slot.
1. Place your fingers into the inset grip on the
left side of the top cover, and lift the cover
open.
2. Rotate the lever on the right side of the
toner cartridge to the front, and align the
mark on the cartridge with the
mark on the printer.
3. Lift the toner cartridge and remove it from
the printer.
Important
• Do not touch the interior of the printer. Some parts
may be hot.
4. Have ready the cartridge of the color
indicated in the message.
The color of the cartridge is indicated also
on the cartridge slot.
