CRANKSHAFT/PISTON/VALVES

CRANKCASE COVER

REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Set the piston at TDC on the compression stroke (page 3-5).

Remove the brake assembly (page 8-3)

• Assemble within 3 minutes after applying the liquid sealant.

• Wait for approximately 30 minutes after assembly and before filling oil and starting the engine.

INSTALLATION:

Clean the mating surfaces of the crankcase and

the crankcase cover using a degreasing cleaning

agent or a clean shop towel.

Apply a bead liquid sealant (ThreeBond

#1216E

or LOCTITE

5900 or equivalent).

Be careful not to damage the lip of the oil seal

when installing the crankcase cover.

REMOVAL:

Insert a screw driver or equivalent tool into the

recesses [1] of the crankcase, and remove the

crankcase cover.
