3. INSTALLATION
The Apex system components can be used together in a variety of ways for different installation
requirementsinahazardousenvironment.Forinstallationsofcertiedcomponentsalsorefertothe
Control Drawings in Appendix B.
The following types of system installation are typical examplesofthosethatcanbemade:
• Apex Transmitter unit with a Certied Sensor locally mounted at the Transmitter
Unit and eld wiring from the Transmitter Unit to the system controller.
• Transmitter unit with a Certied Sensor mounted remotely in a Certied
Junction Box, with eld wiring between the two components, and from
the Transmitter Unit to the system controller.
Thischapterdescribeshowto:
• carry out the installation of a Transmitter Unit and Certied Sensor
• install an Certied Junction Box accessory with Certied Sensor, suitable for
remote operation
• install a LonWorks Communications Board in a Transmitter Unit
This is to enable the unit to be controlled and communicate over a digital network,
e.g. LonWorks.
