17. Remove (and label) all of the storage device units EXCEPT for the alternate IPL load-source device
unit you are currently using. (This includes all of the disk devices in D31-D40 and D46-D50.)
If the system IPLs past the original error, then isolate to the failing device unit.
If the failure still occurs, replace the following FRUs in order one at a time until the problem is
resolved. See the Remove and replace procedures.
a. Load source IOP in location C01 in the FC 9094 base I/O tower.
b. First storage IOA (location C02, C03, or C04) in the FC 9094 base I/O tower.
c. HSL I/O bridge card in location C10 in the FC 9094 base I/O tower.
d. Network interface controller (NIC) card in location M41 in the Models 870 or 890 system unit.
e. Tower card in location CB1 in the FC 9094 base I/O tower.

1. Are you working on a Model 270, 800, 810, 820, or 825:
v No: Continue with the next step.
v Yes: Go to step 15 (See page 355).
2. Are you working on an FC 5075, FC 0575, FC 5095, or FC 0595 Expansion I/O Tower?
v No: Continue with the next step.
v Yes: Go to step 20 (See page 356).
3. Is the SRC 3100?
v No: Continue with the next step.
v Yes: Replace the Tower card - CB1. Use the FRU locations and failing components table in the
Locations and addresses page for the model or feature code you are working on. The table will
include location, and remove and replace instructions.
This ends the procedure.
4. Is the SRC 3101, 3105, 3115, or 3116?
v No: Go to step 7 (See page 354).
v Yes: Are you working on an FC 5078, FC 0578, FC 5088, or FC 0588?
– Yes: Continue with the next step.
– No: Replace the following FRUs. Use the FRU locations and failing components table in the
Locations and addresses page for the model or feature code you are working on. The table will
include location, and remove and replace instructions.
- Control panel - NB1
- Tower card - CB1
- Power cable (PWR60) - Power distribution board (PB1) to Device board (DB3)
