3.8 Making an eABR recording
An eABR (electrical ABR) threshold testing is traditionally used to help determine the degree of cochlear
tuning in pediatric or difficult to test populations.
3.8.1 Two suggested eABR electrode montages
YELLOW Contralateral (non-implant) earlobe or mastoid.
WHITE Vertex/ High forehead or CZ (active or non-inverting electrode)
BLACK Ground at low forehead or ipsilateral on implant side to reduce coil interference
3.8.2 Editing an eABR recording
The electrical stimuli are presented from the cochlear implant system from where the electrical current level,
rate and electrode band is chosen.
Left eABR recordings a young male patient wearing
a CI from Advanced Bionics.
Right eABR recordings from an adult wearing a
Cochlear Freedom CI.
Use the function hide stimulus artifact for easier evaluation without the large CI artifact!
