Starting the Machine
General
WARNING Thoroughly warm the hydraulic oil before operating the excavator services. Before selecting
boom up, check there are no overhead obstructions or electric power cables.
1. Make sure that the machine is ready to start.
Refer to: Immobiliser (Page 39).
2. If the machine has an immobiliser then you must disarm the immobiliser before you start the machine.
3. Make sure that the control isolation lever is in the raised position.
Refer to: Control Lock (Page 43).
4. Turn the ignition key to position 'I' to connect battery to all of the electrical circuits.
Refer to: Ignition Switch (Page 17).
5. Turn the ignition key further to position ‘III’ to start the machine. The motor running indicator will illuminate
to indicate that the motor is running.
6. When the motor does not start, return the ignition key to the '0' position.
7. When the motor has started, check that all the warning lights have gone off.
8. If any warning lights fail to go off, or come on while the motor is running, stop the motor as soon as it is
safe to do so.
9. Lower the control isolation lever to enable the hydraulic controls.
10. Warm up the hydraulics.
Refer to: Warming Up (Page 38).
Warming Up
Before starting work in temperatures below 0°C (32.0°F) to -10°C (14.0°F), the hydraulic fluid must be warmed.
1. During warm up period make sure that everyone is clear of the machine.
2. Warm up the hydraulic oil.
2.1. Increase the RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) to maximum.
2.2. Warm the hydraulic oil by repeatedly selecting bucket crowd by moving the right hand lever to the
