Note:IfthecomputerstartsupandenterstheWindowsenvironment,usethepropershutdown
proceduretoturnoffthecomputer.
3.Removeallexternaldevicesthatareattachedtoyourcomputer(keyboard,mouse,printer,scanner,and
soon).Repeatstep2.Ifstep2isunsuccessful,calltheCustomerSupportCenterandaCustomer
SupportSpecialistwillassistyou.
Spillsonthekeyboard
Withamobilecomputer,thereareincreasedchancesofspillingliquidsonthekeyboard.Becausemost
liquidsconductelectricity,liquidspilledonthekeyboardcouldcreatenumerousshortcircuits,potentially
causingirreparabledamagetoyourcomputer.
Ifyouspillsomethingonyourcomputer:
Attention:Besurethatnoliquidcreatesashortcircuitbetweenyouandtheacpoweradapter(ifinuse).
Althoughyoumightlosesomedataorworkbyturningoffthecomputerimmediately,leavingthecomputer
onmightmakeyourcomputerunusable.
1.Carefullyunplugtheacpoweradapterimmediately.
2.Turnoffthecomputerimmediately.Ifthecomputerdoesnotturnoff,resetthesystembyinsertingone
endofaneedleorastraightenedpaperclipintotheemergency-resethole.Tolocatetheresethole,
referto“Bottomview”onpage7
.Themorequicklyyoustopthecurrentfrompassingthroughthe
computerthemorelikelyyouwillreducedamagefromshortcircuits.
3.Waituntilyouarecertainthatalltheliquidisdrybeforeturningonyourcomputer.
Note:Ifyouwanttoreplaceyourkeyboard,youcanpurchaseanewone.
Errormessages
Message:0177:BadSVPdata,stopPOSTtask.
Solution:ChecksumofthesupervisorpasswordintheEEPROMisnotcorrect.Thesystemboard
shouldbereplaced.Havethecomputerserviced.
Message:0183:BadCRCofSecuritySettingsinEFIVariable.EnterThinkPadSetup.
Solution:ChecksumoftheSecuritysettingsintheEFIVariableisnotcorrect.EnterThinkPadSetup
tochecksecuritysettings,PressF10andthenpressEntertorestartthesystem.Ifyoustillhavea
problem,havethecomputerserviced.
Message:0187:EAIAdataaccesserror
Solution:TheaccesstoEEPROMisfailed.Havethecomputerserviced.
Message:0188:InvalidRFIDSerializationInformationArea
Solution:TheEEPROMchecksumisnotcorrect(block#0and1).Thesystemboardshouldbereplaced,
andtheboxserialnumberneedstobereinstalled.Havethecomputerserviced.
Message:0189:InvalidRFIDconfigurationinformationarea
Solution:TheEEPROMchecksumisnotcorrect(block#4and5).Thesystemboardshouldbereplaced,
andtheuniversallyuniqueidentifier(UUID)needstobereinstalled.Havethecomputerserviced.
