Audioproblems
Problem:WaveorMIDIsounddoesnotplaycorrectly.
Solution:Makesurethatthebuilt-inaudiodeviceisconfiguredcorrectly.
1.OpenControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconfirmation.
4.Double-clickSound,videoandgamecontrollers.
5.MakesurethattheRealtekHDAudiodriverisenabledandconfiguredcorrectly:
Problem:Sounddoesnotcomefromaheadphoneoraspeaker,oryourcomputercannotrecordsounds.
Solution:Toswitchfromonedevicetoanother(forexample,fromaspeakertoaheadphone,orfrom
anexternalmicrophonetoabuilt-inmicrophone),dothefollowing:
1.OpenControlPanelandclickHardwareandSound.
2.ClicktheSmartAudioicon.
3.MakesurethatyouareinMULTI-STREAMmodeintheDeviceadvancedsettingswindow.
4.IntheVolumeMixerwindow,selectthedeviceyouwant-forexample,speakers.
5.Playanysoundviaamusicprogram(forexample,WindowsMediaPlayer).Makesurethatsound
comesfromspeakersnow.
6.Then,ifyouwouldliketoswitchtoaheadphone,closethemusicprogram.
7.GototheVolumeMixerwindow.Thenselectanotherdevice,whichisnowtheheadphone.
8.Playanysoundviathemusicprogram.Makesurethatsoundcomesfromaheadphoneattached
directlytothesystem.
Formoreinformation,refertothehelpinformationsystemofSmartAudio.
Note:IntheVolumeMixerwindowofSmartAudio,acheckmarkbytheentryforadevice,suchas
speakersforaplaybackdevice,orabuilt-inmicrophoneforarecordingdevice,showsthatthedevice
hasbeenselected.
Problem:Recordingsmadeusingthemicrophoneinputarenotloudenough.
Solution:MakesurethattheMicrophoneBoostfunctionisturnedonandsetbydoingthefollowing:
1.OpenControlPanelandclickHardwareandSound.
2.ClickSound.
3.ClicktheRecordingtabintheSoundwindow.
4.SelectMicrophone,andclickthePropertiesbutton.
5.ClicktheLevelstab,andmovetheMicrophoneBoostsliderupwards.
6.ClickOK.
Note:Formoreinformationaboutcontrollingvolume,seetheWindowsonlinehelp.
Problem:Avolumeorbalanceslidercannotbemoved.
Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisfixedbythehardwareand
cannotbechanged.
Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioprogramsareused.
